Euprosterna elaeasa is a species of moth within the Limacodidae family, commonly known as slug moths. This insect is recognized as a significant pest in agricultural sectors, particularly in tropical regions where it causes severe defoliation of essential commercial crops.
The primary hosts for this pest include oil palm, coconut trees, and banana plants. Larvae feed aggressively on the leaf tissues, which significantly hinders the plant's ability to undergo photosynthesis. This reduction in energy production severely impacts the plant's growth and overall commercial fruit output.
