While widely known in biology as intermediate hosts for trematodes, these mollusks can become agricultural pests in specific environments, particularly in wetlands, irrigation systems, and poorly drained fields where they can damage young crops and leafy vegetables.

The habitat of Galba is closely tied to aquatic or semi-aquatic environments. They thrive in ditches, damp meadows, and marshy soil areas. In agricultural landscapes, their presence is often an indicator of excessive soil moisture, which poses a dual risk: physical damage to plants and the potential for disease transmission to livestock grazing in nearby areas.
