Biology and life cycle: The species thrives in ephemeral habitats, including seasonal pools, drainage ditches, and marshy grasslands. It is highly adapted to varying water levels and can survive temporary drought by aestivating in damp soil or mud. This survival strategy, combined with hermaphroditic reproduction, allows Galba glabra to maintain stable populations even in unstable environmental conditions.

Damage and harmfulness: The primary impact is not direct feeding damage to crops, but rather the facilitation of fascioliasis transmission. As an intermediate host for liver flukes, the snail releases cercariae that encyst on vegetation. Cattle and sheep grazing on these contaminated areas ingest the parasites, leading to severe liver disease, production losses, and significant health risks to the herd.

Affected areas: The pest is most commonly found in low-lying pastures, floodplains, and areas with poor drainage or stagnant water. During wet seasons, the snail's habitat expands, increasing the risk of contact with grazing animals and facilitating the rapid spread of parasitic infections across the farm.

Protection measures: Managing Galba glabra populations requires environmental modification and strategic grazing management:
