The field cricket (Gryllus campestris) is an insect belonging to the order Orthoptera and the family Gryllidae. These insects are known for their distinct appearance and are primarily found in dry, sunny habitats where they construct complex underground burrows for shelter and breeding purposes.
As a generalist herbivore, the field cricket can cause significant damage to a wide range of agricultural crops.
