Description

The Bean leaf webber (Hedylepta indicata) is a destructive agricultural pest belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Crambidae. Known primarily for its impact on legumes, this species is prevalent in various tropical and subtropical zones, causing significant economic losses to farmers worldwide.

This pest mainly targets soybean crops, though it is also known to infest various other leguminous plants, such as mung beans, common beans, and peas. The larvae feed on the green tissues of the plant, which directly impacts the crop's vegetative growth and final grain yield if infestations are not controlled.

The biological cycle of the moth consists of the egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. Females typically oviposit on the undersides of the leaflets.
