The beet webworm (lat. Loxostege sticticalis) is a destructive polyphagous pest belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Crambidae. Known for its rapid migration and high reproductive potential, it poses a significant threat to agricultural stability across various climatic regions.

Initially, they skeletonize the leaves, but as they reach later larval stages, they consume the entire leaf surface, leaving only the veins. Severe infestations often lead to complete defoliation, severely reducing crop yields and occasionally causing total loss of the harvest.
Control strategies for the beet webworm should be integrated. Cultural practices, such as deep plowing in the autumn, significantly reduce the number of overwintering larvae by destroying their cocoons. Regular scouting of fields is essential for timely detection. When population levels exceed the economic threshold, the application of targeted insecticides remains the most reliable method for protecting commercial crops.
