Hellula, with Hellula undalis being the most prominent species, is a significant agricultural pest belonging to the Crambidae family of moths. This insect, part of the order Lepidoptera, is widely distributed in warmer regions globally, where it can complete multiple generations throughout the growing season.

The primary hosts of Hellula are members of the Brassicaceae family. Crops such as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, bok choy, and radish are particularly susceptible. The larvae are notorious for their voracious appetite, capable of decimating seedlings and severely stunting the growth of mature plants by targeting the meristematic tissues.

The life cycle begins with eggs laid on the leaves or stems. Once the larvae emerge, they initially create mines or webs on the leaf surface. Chemical control involves the timely application of systemic or contact insecticides during the early larval stages, ensuring thorough coverage of the plant canopy to reach the hidden larvae.
