Hemicycliophora gracilis is an ectoparasitic nematode belonging to the order Tylenchida and the family Hemicycliophoridae. These microscopic organisms are easily identified by their specialized cuticular sheath, which gives them a distinctive appearance under a microscope and provides physical protection against environmental stressors.
The host range of this pest is quite diverse, affecting various vegetable, berry, and ornamental plants. It is most commonly found in lighter, sandy soils where porous soil structures facilitate the movement of these nematodes toward the roots of potential host plants to initiate feeding.
The life cycle of Hemicycliophora gracilis is completed entirely within the soil.
