The primary host for this nematode is rice, a staple crop that suffers significant economic loss from root infestations. In addition to cultivated crops, the nematode thrives in various hydrophytic weeds and grasses, which serve as alternative hosts, ensuring the survival and spread of the pest population throughout the year.
The biology of Hirschmanniella diversa is intrinsically linked to soil hydration.
