Homaledra is a genus of moths belonging to the family Agonoxenidae. These insects are recognized as specialized pests that primarily target various species of palm trees. Their presence is significant in both tropical forest ecosystems and urban landscaping, where they can cause aesthetic degradation and physical decline of host plants.

The life cycle of Homaledra typically involves eggs being deposited on the host's foliage. Once the larvae emerge, they exhibit social behavior by constructing thin, silken web nests on the underside of the leaflets. This structural shelter allows them to feed undisturbed, providing protection from predators and environmental fluctuations while they consume plant tissue.

The larvae are responsible for the damage, as they graze on the leaf surface, scraping away the epidermis and consuming the mesophyll. This feeding pattern creates characteristic necrotic spots and transparent patches, often referred to as "windows."
