The palm leaf skeletonizer (Homaledra sabalella) is a destructive moth species belonging to the family Pterolonchidae. It is recognized as a significant pest of palm trees, particularly affecting various species grown in landscapes and nurseries across warmer climates.

This pest targets a wide range of host plants, including Sabal palms, Washingtonia species, and coconut palms. Because these plants are often central to landscape design, the presence of the skeletonizer can lead to significant aesthetic and economic losses for growers and homeowners alike.

The biological cycle begins when adult moths deposit eggs on the leaf surfaces. Upon hatching, the larvae construct protective webs and feed on the leaf tissue.
