Host plants: Hygromia species are polyphagous, meaning they feed on a vast range of plant tissues. They show a strong preference for tender seedlings, leafy greens like lettuce and cabbage, strawberries, and ornamental flowers. In high-density infestations, they can cause total crop failure, particularly for sensitive young vegetables.

Biology and life cycle: These snails are hermaphroditic, allowing for rapid population growth under favorable conditions. They prefer moist, sheltered areas to lay eggs, typically in the soil or under organic debris.
