Lehmannia is a genus of air-breathing land slugs belonging to the Limacidae family. These mollusks are significant pests in agricultural and horticultural settings, known for their ability to thrive in moist environments and cause extensive damage to a wide range of plant species.

Classified under the order Stylommatophora, Lehmannia slugs are characterized by their elongated bodies and lack of a shell. Their biological structure requires constant moisture, which dictates their nocturnal habits and preference for damp habitats such as vegetable gardens, greenhouses, and compost piles.

The primary crops affected by Lehmannia include various leafy vegetables, such as lettuce and cabbage, as well as root crops and soft fruits like strawberries. In professional agricultural operations, these slugs can cause severe economic losses by consuming seedlings and damaging the marketable parts of mature produce.
