Bamboo stem borer moth

Leucinodes rimavallis is a moth species belonging to the family Crambidae. It is recognized as a significant pest that primarily targets various species of bamboo. This moth has evolved to thrive in environments where bamboo is abundant, making it a serious concern for both commercial growers and botanical gardens.

This infestation disrupts the structural integrity of the bamboo, rendering it unusable for construction or craft purposes. Farmers can identify the presence of the pest by small exit holes and frass accumulations on the outer surface of the stems.
