The Madeira cockroach (Leucophaea maderae) is a member of the order Blattodea, family Blaberidae. This large species, often reaching 50 mm in length, is primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions. This species is highly polyphagous, meaning it feeds on a wide range of plant materials. It commonly attacks banana plants, citrus, various vegetables, and ornamental plants. In agricultural storage facilities, the Madeira cockroach poses a threat to post-harvest produce, contaminating food items and causing significant economic losses to producers and distributors.
