This pest is a significant threat to various agricultural commodities, including staple grains like maize and wheat, as well as industrial crops such as cotton and sugarcane. By attacking the root systems and subterranean stems, the termites disrupt the physiological functions of the plant, often leading to lodging, stunted growth, and total crop failure if the infestation is severe.
