The genus Mustha belongs to the family Pentatomidae, commonly known as stink bugs, within the order Hemiptera. These insects are recognized for their distinct shield-shaped bodies and piercing-sucking mouthparts, which they use to extract nutrient-rich plant sap from various parts of their host plants.
These pests primarily target woody plants, shrubs, and, under certain conditions, agricultural fruit crops. By feeding on tender shoots, buds, and developing fruits, they drain the energy of the plant, often leading to stunted growth and reduced fruit quality, which impacts the overall agricultural yield significantly.
The biological cycle of Mustha follows an incomplete metamorphosis process consisting of eggs, five nymphal stages, and adults. Hibernation occurs during the winter months, with adults seeking refuge in leaf litter, under loose tree bark, or within dense vegetation.
