Systematic position: The genus Pachycondyla belongs to the order Hymenoptera and the family Formicidae. These ants are known for their relatively large size and potent stingers. While they are primarily predators, their presence in agricultural systems, especially within greenhouses, can cause significant management difficulties for growers.

Crops affected: While they do not directly consume large amounts of plant tissue, they are detrimental to various ornamental and vegetable crops.
