Description

Parasa darma is a species of moth belonging to the family Limacodidae, often referred to as stinging caterpillars or slug moths. The larvae of this species are notorious for their distinct, slug-like appearance and the presence of urticating spines that can cause severe skin irritation upon contact.

This pest primarily attacks a variety of tropical and subtropical plants, with significant economic impact on coffee, cocoa, mango, and palm tree plantations. The larvae are voracious feeders and can cause substantial damage to the foliage of the host plants in a relatively short period.

The life cycle of Parasa darma consists of four distinct stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Females deposit eggs in clusters on the underside of leaves.
