Description
Systematic position: The genus Pediasia belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Crambidae (grass moths). These moths are widely recognized as pests that inhabit fields and grasslands, often going unnoticed until significant crop damage occurs.
Affected crops: These pests primarily feed on members of the Poaceae family. Their impact is most significant on grain crops such as wheat, barley, and maize, as well as on permanent pastures and meadow grasses, which are essential for agricultural productivity.
Biology and lifecycle: The lifecycle consists of egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages. The larvae typically overwinter in the soil or within plant debris.
