Description
Pteronemobius is a genus of crickets belonging to the family Gryllidae within the order Orthoptera. These insects are commonly found in damp environments, including riverbanks, marshes, and humid agricultural fields, where they can occasionally reach population densities that pose a threat to crop stability.
From a systematic point of view, they are recognized for their distinct ecological preference for moisture. While often considered benign in natural ecosystems, in agricultural contexts, their feeding behavior on young, tender plant tissue classifies them as sporadic pests that require monitoring by agronomists.
The damage caused by Pteronemobius is primarily observed in vegetable crops and cereal seedlings.
