Pyrausta subcrocealis, commonly known as the sage pyralid moth, is a member of the order Lepidoptera and the family Crambidae. This pest is a specialized herbivore that primarily infests plants in the Lamiaceae family, posing a significant threat to commercial sage plantations.
The larvae of the sage pyralid moth are the primary destructive stage. They feed on the buds, flowers, and developing seeds of the host plants. By targeting the reproductive organs, the pest directly reduces seed yield and significantly lowers the economic value of the medicinal harvest.
