Description
Systematic position: The serrated stink bug (Rhynchocoris serratus) is classified within the order Hemiptera and the family Pentatomidae. These insects are recognized as significant pests in various tropical and subtropical agricultural systems, causing economic losses in fruit production.
Host plants: This pest primarily targets citrus trees, including orange, mandarin, and lemon varieties. While its main preference is citrus, it can also infest other fruit-bearing trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants that provide suitable sap for feeding during the development stages.
Biology and life cycle: The life cycle consists of three developmental stages: egg, nymph, and adult. The insect undergoes hemimetabolous development.
