Crops affected: This species is a polyphagous pest with a broad diet. It heavily impacts crops such as cotton, corn, potatoes, and various citrus fruits. The ants are known to feed on germinating seeds and the stems of young seedlings, often causing thin stands that require replanting, leading to significant economic losses for farmers.
