The Black darter (lat. Sympetrum danae) is a species of dragonfly belonging to the order Odonata and the family Libellulidae. In an agricultural context, it is important to classify this insect correctly; while it is often mistakenly associated with garden pests, it is actually a beneficial predator that plays a role in controlling insect populations.
This species is not a plant pest, as it does not consume crops. Its impact on agriculture is primarily focused on the aquatic ecosystems located near farmland.
