Tetyra is a genus of shield bugs belonging to the family Scutelleridae within the order Hemiptera. These insects are easily recognized by their distinct oval, highly convex body shape and a large, well-developed scutellum that covers the entire abdomen and wings, a feature that distinguishes them from other groups of true bugs.

These pests primarily target coniferous trees, particularly species of pine and spruce. They feed by extracting sap from developing shoots, needles, and cones. Their feeding activity poses a significant threat to forest nurseries and seed production sites, as it directly impacts the quality and viability of the seeds and hinders the overall development of young saplings.

The life cycle of Tetyra consists of an egg stage, five nymphal instars, and the adult phase.
