This pest is known for its wood-boring and stem-boring larvae, which can cause significant damage to the structural integrity of various agricultural and wild plants. Due to its cryptic nature, infestations are often detected only after the structural health of the plant has already begun to decline.

The host range of this pest includes various herbaceous plants, specifically those belonging to the Asteraceae and Fabaceae families. These insects prioritize stressed or drought-affected plants, making them particularly problematic during years of irregular precipitation. When a field is heavily infested, the cumulative impact on vegetative growth can be severe, directly reducing overall agricultural productivity.

The biological development of Texania campestris follows a complete metamorphosis life cycle. Adult females lay eggs on the surface of stems or in crevices.
