It is characterized by its tiny, disc-shaped shell, which is typically colorless or pale yellow. These snails are often found in leaf litter, under stones, or in moist soil habitats, which are common in agricultural fields and nurseries.

This pest primarily feeds on small seedlings and young tissue of various vegetables and ornamental plants. It thrives in humid conditions, making greenhouses and irrigated garden beds highly susceptible to infestation. By feeding on tender shoots, Vallonia excentrica can significantly hinder the establishment and initial growth phase of vegetable crops.

The biology of Vallonia excentrica is intrinsically tied to moisture levels. The life cycle involves laying eggs in moist substrates, such as decaying organic matter or deep soil crevices. Reproduction is continuous during the growing season, provided there is enough humidity, which allows the population to increase rapidly within a short period of time.
