Active ingredient

Cyazofamid

Description

Cyazofamid is a powerful active ingredient belonging to the cyanoimidazole class of fungicides. It is specifically designed to control plant pathogens within the oomycetes group, which are responsible for some of the most devastating agricultural diseases globally. Its targeted approach makes it an essential tool for integrated pest management.

The mode of action of cyazofamid involves the inhibition of mitochondrial respiration in fungi, specifically targeting the Qi site of the cytochrome bc1 complex. This disruption prevents the production of ATP, which is essential for the pathogen's cellular function. Consequently, this leads to the rapid inhibition of mycelial growth and the prevention of zoospore germination.

Cyazofamid is widely applied on various crops, including potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and grapes. It provides exceptional control against Phytophthora infestans (late blight) and various species of downy mildew. Its high efficacy makes it a preferred choice for preventing outbreaks during periods of high humidity and rainfall.

  • Excellent rainfastness once the spray has dried.
  • Effective preventative and curative activity.
  • Significant anti-sporulant properties.
  • Compatible with many other crop protection products.

Application of cyazofamid should focus on preventative measures to stop infections before they establish. When handling the concentrated substance, operators must wear appropriate protective gear, including chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Proper disposal of empty containers and management of spray runoff are critical to minimizing environmental impact on aquatic ecosystems.
