Fenugreek seed powder

Description

Fenugreek seed powder, internationally designated in technical contexts as FEN 560, is an advanced plant protection product derived from the seeds of Trigonella foenum-graecum. This substance has gained recognition in modern agriculture as a highly effective and environmentally friendly biofungicide, suitable for both conventional and organic farming systems.

Chemically, the efficacy of this substance is attributed to the presence of steroidal saponins, flavonoids, and various phytochemical compounds found within the endosperm of the seeds. It functions primarily as a botanical fungicide, designed to disrupt the life cycle of pathogenic fungi without introducing toxic synthetic residues into the ecosystem.

The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of fungal enzymatic activity and the physical disruption of fungal cell membranes. Upon application, the active ingredients interfere with the reproductive processes of the pathogens, specifically hindering spore germination and mycelial growth, while simultaneously priming the plant's defense mechanisms to resist further infection.

FEN 560 is primarily used on a variety of horticultural and cereal crops to combat threats such as powdery mildew, various wilt diseases, and leaf spot pathogens. It is particularly recommended for integrated pest management programs, where reducing chemical load is a primary objective, and can be applied through various spray equipment configurations.

  • Eco-friendly composition with rapid soil biodegradation.
  • No residual toxicity for consumers or farm workers.
  • Low probability of resistance development in target fungal populations.
  • Compatible with other biological control agents (BCA).

Regarding application, uniformity is key to maximizing the protective barrier on the crop surface. Precautions must include the use of respiratory protection during powder mixing to avoid inhalation of fine particles. Proper storage in a cool, dry environment is essential to maintain the integrity of the bioactive compounds until the time of application in the field.
