Description
Pymetrozine is a selective systemic insecticide belonging to the pyridine-azomethine class. It is specifically engineered to target sucking pests, including aphids, whiteflies, planthoppers, and leafhoppers, which can significantly reduce yields by draining plant sap and transmitting viral diseases.
The mode of action of pymetrozine is distinct from conventional neurotoxic insecticides. It acts specifically on the nervous system of the pest, causing an immediate inhibition of their feeding behavior. Once the insect comes into contact with the substance or ingests it, it loses the ability to probe plant tissues with its stylet, leading to death by starvation within two to four days.
