Tebufenozide

The mode of action of tebufenozide is categorized as an ecdysone agonist. By mimicking the natural molting hormone, the substance binds to the ecdysone receptors in the insect, triggering a process known as premature and lethal molting. Once ingested, larvae stop feeding almost immediately, and death occurs within a few days due to the physiological inability to complete the shedding of the old cuticle.

It is primarily utilized on fruit crops, such as apples and grapes, as well as on various vegetables and greenhouse plants. Tebufenozide is highly effective against major pests like codling moths, leafrollers, and cutworms. Its strategic use helps to maintain high yields and high-quality produce by preventing the significant damage these larvae cause to foliage and fruit surfaces.
