Variegated spikesedge (lat. Eleocharis variegata) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Cyperaceae family. It is a moisture-loving species naturally distributed throughout tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Madagascar, where it thrives in marshy environments, wetlands, and shallow water margins.

The botanical structure of the plant is defined by its slender, erect, cylindrical stems that reach heights of up to 60 cm. It possesses a distinct spikelet at the apex of each stem, which is characteristic of the genus.
