Senegalia hereroensis is a perennial woody plant belonging to the Fabaceae family. Formerly classified under the genus Acacia, this species is now part of the Senegalia genus. Known in many regions as the mountain acacia, it is a resilient species that has evolved specifically to withstand the harsh environmental conditions of arid and semi-arid regions.
The plant is native to Southern Africa, with a primary distribution range across Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa. It typically occupies mountain slopes, rocky outcrops, and dry savanna landscapes. Its evolutionary history has made it highly efficient at utilizing limited rainfall and nutrients, allowing it to dominate in environments where other woody plants struggle.
Botanically, this species manifests as a shrub or small tree ranging from 3 to 6 meters in height.
