Idriella root rot is a serious soil-borne fungal disease caused by the pathogen Idriella lunata. This fungus specifically targets the root system of various plants, leading to severe root decay and the inability of the plant to uptake water and nutrients effectively.

The disease is particularly significant in strawberry cultivation, where Idriella lunata can cause substantial yield losses. By damaging the feeder roots, the fungus compromises the plant's vascular system, eventually leading to stunted growth and sudden wilting of the foliage during the fruiting season.
