Alexander

The "Alexander" almond variety is a highly efficient medium-sized tree, reaching a height of about 4.2 m at 18 years of age. Its crown is dense and broom-like, providing good wind protection and increasing yield. The tree grows quickly, and its bark is rough and grey-brown in color. Branches depart from the trunk at an acute angle, creating a compact crown structure.

The variety's fruits are characterized by a medium-early ripening period and a small size - about 1.7 g per nut. The nuts are round-ovate with an acute apex, the shell is thin but strong, which facilitates their processing. The kernel is well-filled, smooth, of medium weight, and has a high yield - 41.9 %. Double kernels are almost absent, and the nut quality meets world standards.

The variety's yield is consistently high: with a planting scheme of 6 × 6 m, a yield of 12.5–13.0 c/ha of dry nuts is achieved. The variety is distinguished by a stable period of winter dormancy and a late flowering period, which reduces the risk of damage in cold conditions. "Alexander" is drought and heat resistant, and also demonstrates low susceptibility to moniliosis burn and clasterosporium. Thanks to its universal use purpose, this variety is suitable for both dry nut production and further processing into oil or confectionery products.
