When selecting grain amaranth, agronomists often look for a crop that doesn't require constant field attention. The "Vlastelin" variety, developed by RosNIIPTI SK and Saratov GUGBI, has proven itself as a dependable workhorse. With a plant height of 150 to 180 cm, this amaranth handles weed competition exceptionally well, which simplifies field maintenance during early growth stages.

Agronomic features and protection

The main advantage noted by operators is its high tolerance to soil-borne pathogens. In environments where other varieties suffer from Fusarium or root rots, "Vlastelin" remains stable. This significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications. The red inflorescences and green leaves are not only visually distinct but also serve as indicators of healthy crop development.

Production specifications

• Vegetation period: 100–110 days, ensuring a manageable harvest window.
• Grain yield: 2.5–3.5 t/ha — an excellent metric for processing into premium amaranth grain.
• Biomass: 40–60 t/ha, making the variety attractive for fodder purposes as well.

The low 1000-seed weight (0.6–0.8 g) requires careful calibration of seed drill metering units. We recommend paying extra attention to sowing depth, as the seeds are fine and any error can lead to uneven emergence. With proper management, the variety responds well to moisture availability, providing predictable, high-quality grain yields.
