Description
Barley variety Francin is an intensive medium-height variety with a stem height of about 71 cm and a two-row ear. This medium-maturing variety is characterized by high yield, potentially reaching up to 91.3 centners per hectare, and a thousand-grain weight of about 50 g. The protein content in the grain is 11.1%, and the extractability reaches 82.4%, making it suitable for producing high-quality malt. The seeds of the Francin variety are treated with the fungicide Lamardor 400 FS, providing protection against diseases; however, under favorable conditions for rust development, additional fungicide treatment is recommended.
The variety responds well to the application of complete mineral fertilization, which contributes to achieving high yields, particularly in regions where root crops, sugar beet, and corn are grown. The recommended seeding rate at 100% field germination is from 3.5 to 4.5 million viable seeds per hectare. Francin is recommended for cultivation in the Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe zones, confirming its adaptability to various climatic conditions of these regions.
The origin of the variety is linked to Czechia, and it has been included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2018. Seeds are supplied in big bags of 1000 kg and accompanied by necessary documentation. Due to its high resistance to rust and good agronomic characteristics, the Francin variety is a reliable choice for farmers focused on producing high-quality barley with high yield and stable performance.
