Description
Galaktik — a medium-maturing variety of spring barley belonging to the Nutans group, intended for cultivation in the Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe zones. This variety features an upright stem, 70–100 cm tall, with a medium-long, loose, straw-yellow ear. The grain is large, yellow, and elongated, making it particularly valuable for the brewing industry. The thousand-grain weight ranges from 46–55 g, and the extractability reaches up to 82%, indicating high-quality raw material for beer production.
The Galaktik variety is characterized by high yield and resilience to adverse conditions. Average yield increases range from 9.3% to 11.9% compared to the best standards, and under drought conditions, the yield reaches 63.5 centners per hectare, which is 7 centners per hectare higher than the standard. The barley exhibits high resistance to lodging (8–9 points), drought (9 points), and major diseases such as powdery mildew, dwarf rust, and helminthosporiosis, ensuring stable and high-quality harvests.
Additionally, the variety shows high tillering ability and good stem and grain alignment (grain alignment reaches 97%). These agronomic traits make Galaktik a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality grain with high yield and resilience to stress factors. Due to its properties, this variety is widely used in the brewing industry and is recommended for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine.
