Description
Barley MIP Oscar is a grain variety developed and registered in 2018 by the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. This variety is recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone and belongs to the mid-late maturing group. The vegetation period ranges from 255 to 270 days, allowing for a stable yield when agronomic requirements are met.
MIP Oscar is characterized by high thousand-grain weight, ranging from 44 to 48 grams, indicating large grain size and potentially high yield. The variety exhibits good resistance to lodging, rated at 7-8 points, and high resistance to shattering — 9 points, significantly reducing yield losses under adverse weather conditions. Its winter hardiness exceeds average levels, ensuring reliable performance in regions with cold winters.
Moreover, MIP Oscar demonstrates resistance to major barley diseases: powdery mildew (6 points), leaf spot diseases (6-7 points), and dwarf bunt (6-7 points). These traits make the variety attractive to farmers seeking to minimize fungicide use and enhance ecological production. Due to its characteristics, barley MIP Oscar is suitable for cultivation in various agroclimatic conditions, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield.
