Description
TIMOFEY is a winter barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, including the Prizovskaya and Southern zones of the Rostov region. It belongs to medium-early varieties with a growing season of 228-265 days and ripens 2-3 days later than the Master variety. The plant is semi-erect, of medium height, with an erect cylindrical ear and long awned hairs. The mass of 1000 grains is 37-42 grams, the grain is semi-long and of medium size. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for regions with variable climatic conditions.
TIMOFEY demonstrates high yield - the average yield in the region reaches 40.2 c/ha, while the maximum yield in Krasnodar Krai was 81.7 c/ha. In spring sowing, the yield is about 26.0 c/ha, which corresponds to the level of the standard. The variety is resistant to lodging, surpassing the Master variety in this indicator. It is moderately susceptible to powdery mildew, weakly affected by brown rust and has moderate resistance to dwarf rust, powdery bunt, and helminthosporiosis. Protein content in the grain varies from 11.6 to 14.2%, making it suitable for forage purposes.
TIMOFEY is distinguished by its universality of application and is suitable for cultivation on various soils and predecessors, including fallow fields, peas, potatoes, perennial grasses, and silage corn. Due to its resistance to unfavorable conditions and high yield, this variety is a cost-effective choice for agricultural enterprises oriented towards the production of quality grain for feed needs.
