Description
Chokecherry "Admiralteyskaya" – a hybrid variety of early-ripening chokecherry intended for table use and for making compotes, jams, juice, and wine. The tree is large and powerful, reaching 7–8 m in height, with a wide-pyramidal crown of medium density; it grows quickly and begins to bear fruit as early as the 3rd–4th year after planting a two-year-old sapling. The attractive shape of the tree makes it a popular decorative element for a garden.
The fruits of this variety are characterized by large sizes (up to 1 g), a uniform round shape, and juicy white flesh; the pit is small and separates easily from the flesh. The taste is sour-sweet with a distinct astringency; sugar content is about 10.5%, acidity is 2.8%, and vitamin C content is 70 mg. The fruits have good resistance to cracking and detach easily from the pedicel, making them convenient for drying and further processing.
"Admiralteyskaya" is distinguished by high winter hardiness (down to -42 °C) and low susceptibility to common chokecherry diseases such as cockcomycosis, clasterosporiosis, and moniliosis. The variety is resistant to pests – rust, chokecherry weevils, and spider mites. Thanks to good transportability and universal purpose (fruits are suitable for drying, compotes, juice), "Admiralteyskaya" is in demand both in home gardens and on commercial plantations.
