The 'Kolokolchik' late bird cherry (Prunus serotina), developed by the Central Siberian Botanical Garden of the SB RAS, is a high-growth variety specifically designed for professional landscaping and creating durable ornamental plantations. Unlike fruit-bearing varieties, 'Kolokolchik' is focused on forming aesthetically pleasing landscape groups where the plant's habit and flowering quality are the top priorities.

Agrotechnics and Functional Application

• Landscaping: Due to its wide crown and significant height (over 4 meters), this variety is highly effective for creating dense hedges and windbreaks. Its high winter hardiness, typical of Siberian selection, allows for successful deployment in regions with harsh climates.
• Ornamental Effect: The primary focus is on its ornamental flowering. The plant is best used as a specimen tree in parks or as part of grand avenue plantings.
• Planting and Maintenance: The variety requires sufficient light and moist soil. When planning commercial installations, it is crucial to account for the large space required for each tree due to its broad canopy. Maintenance is limited to standard pruning to preserve the crown shape and remove deadwood.

While the tree produces small red fruits, they are not intended for commercial processing. The economic value of 'Kolokolchik' lies entirely in its environmental resilience and high visual impact within urban or park systems.
