Description
This variety was obtained by G.T. Kazymin at DalNIISKh from sowing seeds of the 'Early Pink' variety. The variety was approved in the Khabarovsk and Primorsky regions.
The bushes are vigorous, semi-erect in form, with medium or sparse branching typical for cherries. One-year shoots are of medium thickness, slightly curved, brownish-gray, densely hairy. Multi-year branches are curved, thick, dark-gray. Flower buds are small, pointed, pressed, forming on cluster branches, predominantly on two-year-old wood. Rarely, flower buds may occur on shortened fruiting branches. Leaves are inversely egg-shaped, medium to large, strongly hairy, green in color, with strong woolly hairs. Flowers are relatively large, pale pink, on short pedicels. Petals are oval in shape, moderately open. The calyx is tubular-cylindrical. The stigma is positioned above the stamens.
Fruits are large (average weight 2.7 g, maximum 4.0 g), slightly hairy. Fruit set is continuous along the branch, and at maturity, fruits adhere closely to each other. Fruit shape is rounded-angled, color is dense red, shiny. Stone is very small (0.2 g), round in shape, does not detach from the flesh. Flesh is fibrous, very juicy, burgundy-red, with good tart-sweet refreshing flavor. Sugar content in fruits — 9.3%, acids — 0.7%, tannins — 0.2%, pectins — 0.5%, dry matter — 12.6%. Fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and for technical processing. Transportability is weak. Sensory rating 4.5 points.
Fruits ripen in Khabarovsk from July 15-18. Winter hardiness of bushes is good. Bushes grafted onto seedlings of woolly cherry and Ussuri pear perform well, fruit abundantly, and are relatively resistant to soil moisture deficiency. Maximum yield per bush reached 14.5 kg. The variety is relatively resistant to cherry fruit fly and clasterosporiosis. Affected by aphids equally with other varieties.
Advantages of the variety: good winter hardiness, high annual yield, fruits of good flavor and early ripening.
Disadvantages: poor fruit storability, watery flesh.
