Description
This variety was developed at the Far Eastern Experimental Station of VNIIR in 1997 from crossing the varieties 'Leto' x 'pollen mixture' (Red + Pink). Authors: V.P. Tsarenko, N.A. Tsarenko. Introduced into the State Register in 1999.
Bush height 1.3 m, elongated-oval shape. Multi-year branches thick, straight, gray, shedding, with numerous light lenticels. One-year shoots reddish-brown, hairy. Buds small, acute, form in threes, terminal generative, middle vegetative, hairy, slightly pressed against the shoot. Leaf blade slightly concave, oval (4.7 x 3.0 cm), dark green, with an acute base and acuminate apex, corrugated, rigid, hairy on the abaxial side with short hairs, on the adaxial side woolly. Leaf blade margin coarsely doubly-toothed. Petiole 0.5 cm long, medium thickness, green, hairy, with two acute-lanceolate, hairy stipules. Flower (1-2) saucer-shaped, medium size 2.2 cm in diameter of corolla, five-petaled, petals pink, moderately open. Stamens 26, pistil one, hairy, stigma hairy. Stigma positioned below anthers. Calyx elongated-oval with strong anthocyanin, hairy on the outside, five sepals, finely toothed, hairy. Flowering and fruiting type continuous along the branch: on one-year and multi-year wood (bouquet branches, fruiting twigs).
Fruit large, average weight 3.7 g, size 1.6 x 1.8 x 1.7 cm. Fruit shape broadly oval, slightly sloped apex and rounded base with a medium-depth cup. Skin hairy with short, barely noticeable hairs. Fruit color dark pink. Flesh firm, cartilaginous, juicy. Pedicel length 0.5 cm, medium thickness, hairy. Stone broadly oval, average weight 0.17 g, light cream-colored, constitutes 4.6% of fruit weight, acuminate, does not detach from flesh.
Fresh fruits contain dry matter — 11.6%, sugars — 6.5%, acids — 0.7%, ascorbic acid — 21.6 mg/100g. Fruit appearance attractive. Flesh juicy, firm, cartilaginous. Taste sour-sweet, harmonious. Sensory evaluation 3.8 points. Semi-dry fruit detachment. Transportability weak. Not suitable for mechanical harvesting. Horticultural use universal: fresh consumption and processing: juices, jams, jellies, pastilles, marmalades, preserves, wines, etc.
Flowering period May 19-24. Ripe period July 20-26. Fruits ripen simultaneously. Grafted seedlings enter fruiting in 2 years, rootstock in 3-4 years. Plant longevity 17 years. Variety self-sterile.
High yield — 10.6 kg per bush. Bush, one-year and multi-year branches resistant to winter frosts, flowers to spring frosts. Variety drought-tolerant, does not tolerate waterlogging. Resistant to coccomycosis, relatively resistant to clasterosporiosis. Under waterlogging, flowers and fruits are affected by moniliosis.
High production rating: winter hardiness, early fruiting, high yield, large fruit size, semi-dry fruit detachment, longevity. Easily propagated by green cuttings. Suitable for intensive orchards near processing facilities; for nurseries and amateur gardening.
Advantages: large fruit size, good fruit flavor, high yield, semi-dry fruit detachment, winter hardiness.
Disadvantages: fruit size reduction under heavy fruit load, susceptibility to moniliosis.
