Alexandrian clover of the WINNER variety is a valuable fodder crop used both in its pure form and as part of grass mixtures. The plants feature an erect, branched stem 55 to 60 cm high, with opposite arrangement of trifoliate, elongated leaves of a light-green color. The flowers have a yellowish-white or cream color, while the large yellow seeds ensure good germination. The root system is taprooted, penetrating deeply into the soil, which promotes effective nutrient uptake and improves resistance to weed infestation when herbicides are applied correctly. The WINNER variety is characterized by early flowering and rapid growth; the first seedlings appear as early as the 7th day after sowing, and the period to economic maturity is 60-64 days. After cutting, the plants regrow quickly, allowing for two cuts per season. Yield of green mass reaches 420 c/ha, and dry matter is 69 c/ha. Clover responds well to soil liming and has high disease resistance, making it a reliable choice for fodder production. Animals eagerly consume this protein-rich feed, especially in the early flowering phase, when maximum energy concentration and best digestibility are achieved. Additionally, the WINNER variety is widely used as a green manure fertilizer due to uniform root penetration into lower soil layers and a deep main taproot. It is excellent for mulching and sowing before growing beets and corn. When grown in mixtures with annual ryegrasses, such as varieties AUBADE and LEMNOS, stable yields of dry matter of 30 to 40 c/ha are achieved. The variety lacks winter hardiness, as it freezes completely during the cold season, which should be taken into account when planning crop rotation.
