CSC 5244

CSC 5244 is a mid-late maturing corn (Zea mays L.) hybrid with a vegetative period of about 115 days, which is 5 days shorter than the standard. The hybrid belongs to FAO group 400 and is characterized by medium or slightly curved leaves with a small angle between the leaf blade and stem. The plant is medium or tall, reaching a height of 260-280 cm, with an ear attachment height of 90-100 cm. The 1000-grain mass varies within the range of 300-340 g, indicating good potential yield.

The CSC 5244 hybrid exhibits high resistance to root and stem lodging, ensuring stable yield under various conditions. It has moderate resistance to stalk rot and minimal damage from corn borer. Tassel flowering occurs at medium timing, with moderate anthocyanin root coloration at the stem, and weak or absent husk and tassel coloration. The tassel has a main axis that is higher than the long upper lateral branch, forming a medium angle with lateral branches.

Sowing of CSC 5244 is recommended at optimal times with varying density depending on moisture conditions: 50,000–55,000 plants per hectare in dry conditions and 60,000–65,000 plants per hectare in areas with sufficient moisture. The hybrid is included in the State Register for the North Caucasus region and is approved for cultivation in the Middle Volga and Lower Volga regions, confirming its adaptability and wide use in agriculture for grain production.
