DN Pivika

DN Pivika — a high-yielding early-maturing hybrid of sweet corn developed by the Institute of Grain Farming of NAAN. This hybrid is characterized by high yield stability, reaching 12–14 tons of grain per hectare and 45–50 tons of silage per hectare, as well as versatility in use — suitable for grain, silage, and grit production. Plants reach a height of 220–250 cm, have a conical-cylindrical ear of 20–22 cm length with 14–16 rows of kernels and 35–40 kernels per row. The grain is cream-colored with a tooth-like appearance, turns yellow-orange upon maturity, weighs 250–270 g per 1000 kernels, and has a grain yield of 78–80%.

The hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging, drought, cold tolerance, and resistance to major diseases, including stalk rot and downy mildew, as well as pest damage. The plant does not bush out and has good water shedding, facilitating efficient harvest. The ear stalk has a red pigment, a distinctive feature of the hybrid. Seeds are packaged in five-layer paper bags, cleaned, and sorted by fractions.

Recommended cultivation zones — Polissia, Forest Steppe, and Steppe of Ukraine, where the optimal plant density at harvest time ranges from 50,000 to 90,000 plants per hectare depending on the region. Due to its high drought resistance and tolerance to temperature fluctuations, DN Pivika ensures stable and high yields even under challenging climatic conditions, making it a profitable choice for farmers seeking efficient and versatile corn utilization.
