DN Veld is a maize variety from the Institute of Grain Crops of the NAAS, designed for environments that demand maximum crop output. Unlike modern early-maturing hybrids focused on rapid turnover, this variety requires a thoughtful approach to sowing dates and regional conditions.

Strengths and Vegetation Specifics

• Late-maturing potential: The extended vegetation period allows the crop to fully utilize the season's thermal resources. It is an ideal choice for southern and central regions where the accumulation of active temperatures is consistent.
• Variety reliability: As a variety, it is less dependent on annual fluctuations in seed prices, allowing farmers to independently manage their seed stock.

Key Considerations

The main feature, which also presents a challenge, is the medium-late maturation period. DN Veld does not tolerate late sowing. We recommend this variety to farms with sufficient technical capacity for prompt grain drying that seek stable total yield figures without paying a premium for foreign genetics.
