A reliable, versatile hybrid with high disease resistance and flexible applications for both grain and silage.
Description
Stable yields under any conditions: the potential of ES Yunkai
Selecting a maize hybrid is always a trade-off between potential yield and environmental resilience. Developed by the Ukrainian company NVF Elita-Select, the ES Yunkai hybrid was designed as a versatile tool for farms that cannot afford to sacrifice silage quality for grain performance or vice versa.
Versatility and grain type
The key feature of ES Yunkai is its flint-dent grain type. This combination allows for a high grain test weight during threshing while maintaining excellent nutritional value in silage biomass. With an FAO range of 90–1240, the hybrid demonstrates significant plasticity, allowing farmers to adjust sowing and harvesting schedules according to local weather patterns.
Technological immunity
In the face of Ukraine's volatile climate, disease pressure remains a primary threat to crops. Unlike many imported hybrids that require "greenhouse" conditions, ES Yunkai possesses built-in resistance to a complex of pathogens:
- Helminthosporium leaf blight and rust;
- Root, stalk, and fusarium rots;
- Head smut.
Particular attention should be paid to its resistance to common smut—a devastating disease capable of reducing yields by up to 30% in unfavorable summers.
Agronomic recommendations
The hybrid requires a thoughtful approach to plant population. Depending on the soil moisture levels of your field, the following densities are recommended:
- Under favorable moisture and intensive management: 80,000–85,000 plants/ha.
- In high-risk farming zones or under extensive cultivation: 55,000–60,000 plants/ha.
Who is this hybrid for? ES Yunkai is an ideal choice for mid-to-large-scale agricultural enterprises operating in the Forest-Steppe and Steppe zones. It is forgiving of minor technological errors, remains stable regarding phytosanitary status, and ensures reliable production of quality feed or commercial grain even during seasons with moderate rainfall.
